Manuel J. Rodriguez

Manuel J. Rodriguez is a civil engineer. He has a Master’s degree in Planning and Regional Development (ATDR) and a PhD in Civil Engineering (Environmental Engineering). He completed his post-doctoral fellowships in England and France, and has been a tenured professor at École supérieure d’aménagement du territoire et de développement régional (ESAD) (Graduate School of Regional Planning and Development) since 1996, where he teaches environment. Since 1997, he has been regular member of the Centre de recherche en aménagement et développement (CRAD) at Laval University. He is currently the director of the master’s and doctoral programs at ESAD.

Professor Rodriguez’s research program concerns the managing of drinking water quality. He is particularly interested in generating knowledge concerning the spatio-temporal evolution of water quality in the supply source and distribution networks, and in the development of tools for supporting decision-making in managing drinking water by municipal officials, by people in charge of regulating, and by those responsible for public health.

Professor Rodriguez is responsible for the Research Chair on drinking water at Laval University, whose principal partners are: Quebec City, Levis, Avensys-ITF Labs, Dessau and the CRSNG. The results of his research have been published in over 70 arbitrated articles in scientific journals, and he has lectured at numerous national and international conferences.
